sometimes,
i want to say
no -
i'm bleeding inside
and can't you see my tears? hidden
somewhere, somehow,
beneath my smile.

sometimes,
i want to shout
how dare you ask,
when you've seen the bruises -
(and don't deny it)
i've seen you look at my arms
and then away again.

sometimes,
i want to cry
and feel your arms around me,
and hear you whisper into my ear,
that 'it'll be alright'

always,
i smile and laugh,
and wave a hand
dismissing my pain, my sorrow
and you.

That Makes Me SmileHe leans against the door frame, his legs crossed at the ankle. The first few beams of orange and pink embrace his shoulders. His skin is a newly tan stretched across wiry muscle. His ragged denim shorts are urban against his sandy beach body. My feet mumble against the carpet as I walk toward him. I rest my hand between his massive shoulder blades, my child-like hand appears non-existent in comparison. His heart hammers along in his rib cage. Sometimes he tells me it beats so hard because it wants to break out and hold me. That always makes me smile. Now, he pivots his head, so slightly, to catch my face with one eye. I Don't Get YouI don't get you.
You always seem to be happy,
even when the world is crumbling at your feet.

I don't get the way you look at others,
so endearing, or the way you can stand to laugh,
when you know when you get home, everything is still the same.

I don't get how you can laugh,
you can smile a real, true smile - the kind that shows in your eyes -
and really mean it, when no matter where you go, the shadows will follow you.

I don't get how you can speak
with such confidence in your beliefs and in yourself
when it's so obvious by your red eyes that you've been crying.

I don't get why you think
no one will notice how broken you are,

For a DateI would like to go somewhere where I could hear you talk,
Hear you tell me everything that ever mattered to you,
And if you enjoy making out under the moonlight,
I would then like to ask you to do it again.

I would like to cuddle your hand to my chest,
Curl your hair around my sleeves,
Wipe the snow from your eyes,
And flower that little smile to soften your lips.

And I love to feel your soft lips on me,
Emotions behind everything you whisper in my ears,
Happiness in every one of your silly smiles,
Touching the spark in me that is now completely yours.

'Sometimes you piss me off.' I sighed and shook my head.
'How do I?' he asked amused.
'You never reply when I say I miss you.' I answered quietly.

'I miss you.' I said to him.
'Oh i'm watching scrubs.' He answered.
'Mkay.' I said my heart sinking a little.

'So whatcha doing?' he asked me.
'Missing you, nothing interesting.' I said sarcastically, but it was the truth.
'Righto, I have to go to work. Later cutie.' he said hanging up.

'I miss you, and I don't care if you don't say it back.' I said cheerily.
'Oh well if you say so. But i'm curious to why you don't.' He said.

This Situation"I love you," I whispered, "I love you so much." He chuckled. He laughed. He laughed. "What?" I asked, annoyance gripping me.

"It's cute," he answered lightheartedly, stroking my hair. Cute? Cute?!

"Sure." I pulled out of his arms, thoroughly disappointed.

"What? What's wrong?"

I shook my head, turning away from him to look at the snow quietly falling outside the window.

"Please stop," he said, pausing for a moment. "What's the problem? What did I do?"

"You'll just never take me seriously," I said, immediately feeling a sharp pain in my chest at the realization of how much truth was contained in those words.

10, d i f f e r e n t l yi. I hesitate before hugging anybody, from the fear coilling up like a cobra; suffocating me with the thought of them possibly leaving whenever I let go.

ii. I stand up for what I believe in, because I'm tired of being pushed around like a rag doll, while my enemy strings me along like a puppet...but guess who enjoys the satisfaction of playing with their heartstrings now?

iii. I build up these indestructible walls, just so I can find out who's willing to tear them down, and who actually cares enough to deal with my defiant stubbornness.

iv. I only whisper those three little words to the people who deserve it, because there's no guaranteed

To distant view of mountains and valleys.
And all things beautiful between the earth and the sky.

ForgedWeek after week they scrawled their thoughts and feelings out on paper
Then shipped off their letters.
Back and forth until the end of their best friends forever
And the girl got anxious and afraid.

She had started letting her emotions and imagination rule her mind
And the letters were becoming less harmless and friendly.

Greed is infinite and the poor are shunned.

People hurting people is wrong,

No one should be guilty of a crime in the first place

Imploding the TaxiIn the air of winter our memories sing of perfect spring mornings
Bursting into life and shivering at the brink of sheer implosion.
Gazing at our old photographs and eating some peppermint candy...

There was no love at first sight.
No heart skipping a beat right away,
No immediate connection.

Only a little chemistry,
And common interests.
We had friendship.
